The Everest Base Camp tour of Tibet starts early morning from Kathmandu. We drive through the hilly and scenic road to Rasuwagadhi of Nepal-Tibet border. After completion of necessary border formalities, we continue our drive to Kerung, the newly developed international town of Tibet. The significant highlight of this tour is the visit of Rongbuk Monastery being the highest monastery in the world. We make an excursion further to the Everest Base Camp (5,150m/16,897ft), the tallest peak is right in front of us with the stunning views of its north face. Finally, the tour concludes in Lhasa crossing over the high passes of Karo La (5,010m/16,437ft), Kamba La (4,794m/15,729ft) and the colorful Yamdrok Tso Lake (4,425m/14,518ft).

In Lhasa, there are plenty of scenic spots and historical attractions such as the Potala Palace of the Dalai Lama, Norbulingka- the summer palace of the Dalai Lama, the holiest Jokhang Temple, Barkhor market, Sera and Drepung Monastery. Sera together with Ganden and Drepung Monastery in Lhasa are known as the ‘three Great Monasteries of Tibet’. The holy city Lhasa (3,600m/11,811ft) is the capital of Tibet. We then fly with the trans-Himalayan flight between Lhasa and Kathmandu that offers the breathtaking view of the world’s highest Mount Everest (8,848m/29,028ft) and other great Himalayan range. This tour is a blend of culture and adventure on the roof of the world.

Day 1
Drive Kathmandu to Kerung (2,700m/8,900ft), 145km.

Early morning drive uphill to Rasuwagadhi (Nepal-Tibet border) through the beautiful countryside. After completing immigration and custom formalities at Nepal side, drive to Chinese immigration post and again complete the custom formalities then further drive to Kerung. Stay overnight (O/N) at Guest House (BB-Bed and Breakfast).

Day 2
Drive Kerung to Tingri (4,100m/13,452ft), 245km.

The drive offers an amazing view of the highest plateau of the world with typical landscape offering the sheer feeling of being on the roof of the world crossing over Lalung La Pass (5,050m/16,569ft), from where you can see the breathtaking views of Mt. Cho Oyu (8,201m/26,907ft) and Mt. Shishapangma (8,012m/26,287ft). At Tingri, you can also witness the magnificent view of Mt. Everest (8,848m/29,028ft). Stay O/N at Guest House (BB).

Day 3
Drive Tingri to Rongbuk (4,800m/15,748ft), 90km.

Drive through the scenic Tibetan countryside. Visit the Rongbuk Monastery. Explore the Everest Base Camp, 8km, the highest peak right in front of you as if communicating with you in a spiritual language and filling you with the satisfaction that you have made it to the base camp of Mt. Everest (8,848m/29,028ft). Stay O/N at Guest House (BB).

Day 4
Drive Rongbuk to Shigatse (3,900m/12,795ft), 334km.

Continue scenic drive crossing over Gyatchu La pass (5,220m/17,126ft), the highest pass en-route to Lhasa via Lhatse from where a road to Mt. Kailash bifurcates to the west. Stay O/N at Hotel (BB).

Day 5
Drive Shigatse - Gyantse (3,950m/12,959ft) to Lhasa (3,600m/11,811ft), 349km.

In the morning, visit the Panchen Lama’s Tashilunpo Monastery and the local market of Shigatse. Drive through Tibet’s biggest agricultural field to Gyantse. Visit Phalkor Monastery and Khumbum Stupa in Gyantse. Then continue driving to Lhasa crossing over two high passes: the Karo La (5,010m/16,437ft) and the Kamba La (4,794m/15,729ft) via the turquoise Yamdrok Tso Lake (4,425m/14,518ft). Stay O/N at Hotel (BB).

Day 6
Sightseeing in Lhasa.

Guided sightseeing tour of Potala Palace, Jokhang Temple and Barkhor Market. Stay O/N at Hotel (BB).

Day 7
Sightseeing in Lhasa.

Guided sightseeing tour of Sera & Drepung Monasteries. Stay O/N at Hotel (BB).

Day 8
Fly Lhasa to Kathmandu.

Transfer back to Gonggar Airport for a flight to Kathmandu.

Option available for extending your trip with Jungle Safari adventure, white water rafting or a trip of your choice.
