Annapurna Skyline trek is one of the most fabulous medium level trips available in the Annapurna region of Nepal. The Annapurna Skyline trekking route is also popular for the whole range of experiences rather in a shorter period of time.
The trek has stunning close-up views of the three of the popular peaks namely Machhapuchhare or Fishtail (6,997m/22,957ft), Annapurna (8,091m/26,546ft) and Dhaulagiri (8,167m/26,796ft) dominating the skyline. Therefore, Annapurna Skyline trek also refers to as Annapurna Panorama view trekking.
This is culturally a diverse trail with the biggest concentration of ethnicity relatively in the smaller geographical region. The trail rewards you with an exposure to the lifestyle and culture of the communities living in the area since years.

The trail follows through the lush green and rhododendron forests and typical settlements of Thakali, Gurung and Magar ethnic tribes. Poonhill lies above Ghorepani village and a major highlight of the trek for panoramic views of snow-capped mountains.
The views are simply amazing from Poonhill and ranks as one of the most beautiful viewpoints in Nepal. Going down to Tatopani from Ghorepani makes the trek tremendous where we can enjoy with the natural hot water spring. Tatopani refers to as ‘Hot water’.
The hot spring water consists of high mineral contents which offers a variety of well-explained healing effects. Tatopani also serves as the junction for the popular Jomsom Muktinath route and Annapurna Circuit trail. Finally, we take a scenic drive through the uneven road back to Pokhara.
Poonhill Ghorepani trek is a much similar alternative trip with the Annapurna Skyline trek. Extension of Annapurna Base Camp is also possible with this trek. The trail winds through the wild valleys, mossy forests and steep waterfalls en-route.
Best Season for Annapurna Skyline Trek
Annapurna Skyline trek is also an all season trek like Poonhill Ghorepani trek. The best season starts from February until June and September through November. The winter season remains from December to January. There may be snow on the trail till early spring and can be cold at night. July and August are the monsoon season and the trails become muddy and slippery at some parts and still doable. The visibility can also be poor due to rain and clouds during summer time.
Annapurna Skyline Trek Difficulty
We have classified this trek as a medium trek and suitable for families and children who are expecting some soft adventures. The first day of the trek from Phedi to Dhampus can be more challenging to the occasional trekkers. Regular exercising or jogging is a good idea prior to the trip to boost up your performance. People with average fitness can complete this trek without difficulty.
What to Pack for Annapurna Skyline Trek
The lower region of the Annapurna trail can be trekked pretty lightly. However, you should be aware to pack things for your daily use such as 2 pairs of pants, 2-3 thermal/summer tops, 3-5 pairs of socks, underwear, a waterproof jacket, a pair of comfortable hiking shoes, water bottle, sunglasses, sunscreen and a reading book for spare time.
