Mardi Himal Trek

Mardi Himal trek is one of the rarely visited trekking trails in Nepal and the route is popular to provide some exceptional mountain views. The Mardi Himal trek provides an opportunity to hike through the forests and enchanting villages that have not yet felt the impact of tourism. Mardi Himal trekking is also an alternative trekking route for Annapurna Circuit in the Annapurna region of Nepal. This is less explored trek and the main feature of this trek is the exotic view of the Mt. Machhapuchhre or Fishtail (6,997m/22,957ft).

This route is still virgin and the trekkers may enjoy with the great views of snow-capped Himalayan Range. The trail has an impressive views of the popular Annapurna and Fishtail including mountain landscapes and natural hot water springs. The mixed indigenous lifestyles, rhododendron forest, ancient caves, waterfalls and the great biodiversity are some highlights of this trek. The ridges have steep sides and heavily wooded with rhododendron and bamboo forests. The high alpine pastures provide grazing and a peaceful habitat for wildlife in the Mardi Himal zone. Mardi Himal is a popular climbing peak also.

Day 1
Drive (200km)/fly from Kathmandu to Pokhara (884m/2,900ft).

Day 2
Drive from Pokhara to Phedi and trek to Dhampus (1,650m/5,413ft).

Day 3
Trek Dhampus to Forest Camp (2,600m/8,530ft).

Day 4
Trek Forest Camp to Low Camp (3,050m/10,007ft).

Day 5
Trek Low Camp to High Camp (3,900m/12,795ft).

Day 6
Rest day at High Camp for acclimatization.

Day 7
Trek High Camp to Mardi Himal West Base Camp (4,500m/14,764ft), day excursion.

Day 8
Trek Mardi Himal West Base Camp to Campsite (2,840m/9,318ft).

Day 9
Trek Campsite to Mardi Himal South Base Camp (4,120m/13,517ft).

Day 10
Trek Mardi Himal South Base Camp to Khumai Danda (3,245m/10,646ft).

Day 11
Trek Khumai Danda to Hile Kharka (2,160m/7,086ft).

Day 12
Trek Hile Kharka to Ghachok (1,254m/4,114ft).

Day 13
Trek Ghachock to Milanchok and drive to Pokhara.

Day 14
Drive/fly from Pokhara to Kathmandu.

  • Annapurna Conservation Area (ACAP) permit and TIMS (Trekkers' Information Management System)
  • A City Hotel in Pokhara for two nights
  • Three meals (B/L/D) a day on trekking from teahouse/lodge and at our own kitchen
