Bhutan is called ‘Land of the Thunder Dragon’ in native tongue and regarded as the lost paradise on the earth. The major highlights of our Mystic tour of Bhutan includes the visits to monasteries, dzongs (fortresses) and deep valleys. Similarly, the spectacular mountains, wide range of flora and fauna, age-old Buddhist culture and vibrant traditions have made it a real paradise.
Although Bhutan is small in size (47,000sq.km.), its topography offers a dramatic contrast. It ranges from its southern border of 300 meters to the height of 7,000 meters in the north. The northern Himalaya serves as border with the Tibetan plateau of China. The Indian states of West Bengal and Assam share border with Bhutan in the south while Arunanchal Pradesh encircles this from the east.
The Paro (2,280m/7,480ft) and Thimpu (2,320m/7,611ft) concentrated mystic tour is ideally good for short time holidays in Bhutan. This short tour also gives a good impression of Bhutanese culture and traditions along with the great views of Himalayan panorama. We spend two full days in picturesque Paro, visiting Paro Dzong and the National Museum.
The next day hike up to the dramatic Tiger’s Nest (3,180m/10,433ft) at Taktsang Lhakang, a major highlight of this trip. The weekend market in Thimpu is good for handicrafts. Buddhism being the main religion of Bhutan, their every aspect of daily life has impressions from Buddhist beliefs and aspirations. The tour is then concluded in Paro.
