Whenever people speak about Nepal- it gives an image of mountains, peaks, Himalayas, Mount Everest, forest, wildlife, birds, living goddess, temples, highest density of world heritage sites, birthplace of Lord Buddha- Lumbini, ethnic tribes, lively cultures and beautiful smiling faces.

People imagine a blend of adventure, thrills, love, affection, devotion and excitement while they are in this magical country. It is hard to include everything in a short visit but can be experienced most of them in about 10 days. 10 days in Nepal can significantly give a brief introduction of this country.

Tourists expecting to visit Nepal with families and children can find this an ideal destination for short duration holiday. Hence 10 days are enough to get the first hand experience in Nepal.

When is the best time to visit Nepal?

Actually Nepal can be visited throughout the year. Nepal has such a diverse weather in every small radius. If you travel from 50-100 kilometers, you are likely to get a different weather. The land is extended from 67 meters to 8,848 meters from sea level and so the weather is.

The southern part of the country is popular for jungle safari activities, elephant back-ride, bird watching while the Kathmandu valley in the middle consists of many colourful festivals and shrines. Kathmandu has the highest density of world heritage sites. The northern part of the country is covered by Himalayas and there are 8 highest peaks found in this small radius among 14 which are above 8,000 meters all over the world.

If you are thinking for trekking in Nepal above 5,000 meters, it is not an appropriate time during winter. But apart from high altitude trekking, Nepal is always the best destination for all seasons.

What is the best itinerary for 10 days?

Here, we are suggesting an itinerary from our own experience what most people mainly like to do in Nepal. We took few guidelines to prepare a constructive program that is suitable for people of all ages. We noted the activities our travellers chose, months of travel and their significant interest.

The result for the best itinerary we found was quite interesting. First, we categorized some facts on selected topics.

  • Activities: Cultural tours, trekking/hiking, jeep drive in the jungle, paragliding
  • Place: Kathmandu, Pokhara, Poonhill, Ghandruk, Chitwan
  • Memorable trip: Elephant back-ride
  • Most challenging: Stone steps at Ulleri on the way to Ghorepani

Finally, the best itinerary we found:

[Day 01]: Reception at Kathmandu airport, then transfer to a hotel.

[Day 02]: Cultural tour of the Kathmandu City.

[Day 03]: Drive Kathmandu to Pokhara along the Prithvi highway.

[Day 04]: Drive to Nayapul and trek to Tikhedhunga.

[Day 05]: Trek to Ghorepani along Ulleri and Banthanti.

[Day 06]: Visit Poonhill early morning and continue trek to Ghandruk.

[Day 07]: Trek to Nayapul, then drive to Pokhara.

[Day 08]: Drive to Chitwan.

[Day 09]: Full day safari in Chitwan.

[Day 10]: Drive back to Kathmandu, join cultural dinner.

[Day 11]: Departure from Kathmandu.
