OverviewThe Lhasa and Everest Base Camp trek commences by taking the hour long flight from Kathmandu in Nepal to Tibet we will cross the main Himalayan range with magnificent mountain views. Sightseeing in Lhasa with its many monasteries, the Potala Palace, Jokhang Temple (7th century) and possibly the most sacred shrine in Tibet which is surrounded by the Barkhor Bazaar a maze of many narrow cobbled streets. We will visit Namtso Lake, the highest and largest salt lake in the world at 4700m, magnificent wildlife and Tibetan nomadic culture. Travel the Friendship Highway crossing the high passes of Karo La (5010m) and Kamba La (4794m) and see the beautiful Yamadroke Lake (4425m). Crossing the Gyatchu~La (5220m) the highest point on our journey with a visit to the Shayka Monastery. Drive to Ronbuk and visit Ronbuk monastery the highest monastery in the world; then trek or ride to Everest Base Camp with stunning views of Mt Everest’s north face. Crossing the Friendship Bridge, which spans the Bhote Koshi River and marks the Chinese - Nepalese border. Note: Tibet is a cold and dry land and travelling to Tibet in summer is found to be more popular, however some of our clients have recommended that travelling in Tibet in winter is “good” if you are interested in the cultures and festivals of Tibet.
