Safaris in Nepal

Nepal itself can be considered one big National Park with its numerous scenic views, glaciers and lakes, majestic Himalayas, spectacular mountains, clear waterfalls and adventurous rivers. Nepal is a land of extreme contrasts in climate and geographical condition. It has no fewer than 16 National Parks to choose from and one of the most impressive lists of species in the world.

If you are passionate about wildlife this is the place to visit. It is home to thousands of different species of flora and fauna and is a virtual haven for birdwatchers. Located in the Terai region of Nepal, our Safaris explore the Bardia National Park and the Chitwan National Park. We offer a minimum of 2 night / 3-day package to the National Parks. If you wish to stay longer we will tailor your trip accordingly.

Chitwan National Park:
Chitwan National Park in the inner Tarai of central Nepal covers an area of 932 sq km and is the first and best protected area in Nepal. Once one of the famous big game hunting area's in Asia, Chitwan now offers protection to the large array of mammals such as the one horned rhinoceros, Royal Bengal tiger, leopard, Sloth bear and Guar (wild bison), Gangetic dolphin, Gharial crocodile as well as 400 species of birds. Without doubt, Chitwan is one of the outstanding wildlife sanctuaries in the world.

Bardia National Park:
This 968 sq km reserve is reminiscent in many ways of Chitwan National Park, but less frequented. Here you have a higher chance of seeing a Royal Bengal tiger. Bordered to the north by Chure hills, but is predominantly flat and dominated by forests and grassland. As well as tigers, there are blue bulls, a variety of deer, a few wild elephant and a small heard of rhinoceros. If you are lucky you might also see Gangetic dolphin in the river.

Koshi Tappu Wildlife Reserve:
Located on the beautiful flood plain of the Sapta Koshi in eastern Nepal lies this 175 sq km wildlife reserve The reserve is often flooded during the monsoon, although mostly only shallow depths. It is home to the last surviving group of wild buffalo and several species of deer. The reserve has 280 different species of birds-including many migratory birds.

Sukla Phata National Park:
Located in the far southwestern corner of Nepal lies this this 305 sq km reserve.  It covers a flood plain, dominated by  forest, but like Bardia and Chitwan National Parks, there are also grasslands, which make it ideal for wildlife observation. Sukla Phata National Park is one of the last strongholds of the endangered swamp deer, but there are also around 35 tigers and an estimated 45 wild elephants, as well as leopard and a variety of birds.
