Manaslu Circuit |
OverviewThe Manaslu Region was officially opened for trekking in 1991.The region has its own natural beauty and the trek around Manaslu is one of the classic treks in Nepal. The trail up the Budhi Gandaki is one of the most difficult routes in Nepal and there is a huge amount of climbing to be undertaken as you trek up and down and over ridges and onto shelves to bypass cliffs. This trek is geographically spectacular and culturally fascinating. The Trek starts from Gorkha and crosses Larkya La pass (5420m). The views of Manaslu (8163m) the world’s eighth highest mountain from Larkya La are truly spectacular. Much of this trek is in a region of strong Tibetan influence. The inhabitants of upper Budhi Gandaki region are Nupri who are direct descendents of the Tibetan people. A trek to the base of Mt. Manaslu (8163m) offers a combination of rich cultural heritage, unsurpassed beauty and a great diversity of flora and fauna. It is also called the 'Japanese Mountain'. In Samagoan (3450m), just 15 km from the Tibetan border, Tibetan monks inhabit the sacred monasteries. More monasteries are seen in Larkya Bazaar. From the top of the Larkya La pass we descend through the alpine forests alive with flowers, ferns, bamboo, pine, waterfalls and aqua-blue green lakes which are laced with cotton-white beaches.
