The Annapurna Region is located in central Nepal and is the most geographically and culturally diverse region for trekking. The region stretches over 2,600sq km and the area boasts a variety of different cultures, tribes, and castes such as the Brahmins, Chettris, Newars, Gurungs, Magars, Thakalis, Manangis and the Tibetans. This is also the home region where the famous Gurkha soldiers are from. The area is rich with sub-tropical lowlands, valleys, bamboo, oak and rhododendron forests, alpine meadows, windswept desert plateaus, glaciers and of course the impressive Annapurna Mountain range. The area has the world’s deepest river gorge, Kali Gandaki and the Thorung La the world’s biggest pass and boasts some of the highest mountains of the world such as Annapurna I (8091m) 10th highest, Annapurna II (7937m) 16th highest and also has some of the most beautiful mountains such as,’’ Fishtail Peak ’’ (Machhapuchhare 6993m).
