2nd TAAN International Eco-Challenge
Trekking Agencies’ Association of Nepal (TAAN) has been organizing TAAN International Eco-Challenge to promote adventure sports in Nepal since 2013. The event was conceived realizing the need for an international sporting event in the country. This year TAAN is organizing 2nd TAAN International Eco-Challenge 2014 on August 17.

The Eco-challenge is a team event which comprises of three sporting events -- running, cycling and rafting. Interested participants will need to form a group of five persons including a team manager who will not participate in the sporting events. All four participants will first run on the 6.5-kilometer track from Bhutkhel ground in Tokha to Pani Muhan at the entrance of Shivapuri Nagarjun-National Park. The participants will then cycle on the 14.5-kilometer track through the Shivapuri Nagarjun National Park. After completing cycling, the participants will then raft on 7.5-kilometer segment of Bagmati River until Gokarna – the finishing point of the event.
The winning team will receive gold medals, certificates and cash prize of Rs 125,000. Similarly, the first runner-up will receive silver medals, certificates and cash prize of Rs 95,000, while the second runner-up will receive bronze medals, certificates and a purse of Rs 65,000. TAAN will deduct 25% tax as per the government rule.
Anyone above the age of 18 can participate in the event by paying registration fee of Rs 4,000 per team.
TAAN aims to develop the event as one of the popular adventure sporting events in the country. Participants can fill up registration forms at TAAN Secretariat in Maligaun. Registration opens from Wednesday itself. The deadline for registration ends at 3 pm on August 12, 2014.
