Bhutan is rich in culture and traditions. Bhutan is known as ‘Druk Yul’ in native language and it is one of the world's most exotic tourist destinations. The national religion of Bhutan is Mahayana Buddhism which is the basis of the the Drukpa way of life. Some basic knowledge of Buddhism is essential to experience the everyday life in Bhutan. Prayer flags dot the landscape everywhere. Prayer wheels run by mountain streams can be seen at the roadside. Images of Buddha and other religious figures are carved and painted on to cliffs. It reminds the visitor that every aspect of daily life in Bhutan is shaped by Buddhist beliefs and aspirations. Punakha Dzong is the major highlight of this tour.
