Trekking is the best way to experience Bhutan. Druk Path trekking is one of the most scenic and popular trekking trails in Bhutan which connects the two important Valleys of Thimpu and Paro. It follows a wilderness trail and remote lakes leading through the ancient trading route. Although it is a short trek, it goes over many high passes that make the trek moderately strenuous.
A group of minimum two persons are needed for trekking in Bhutan. The high mountains, green hills, landscapes, monasteries and the cultural richness have always made Bhutan a distinct land to visit. It is also a landlocked country like Nepal and have similar topography.
Late February to June and September to December are the ideally good time for this trek. However, there might be snow blockade on the route in late autumn and early spring. July and August are not favourable months for this trek. Therefore, Druk Path trekking needs a good level of equipment as it is very cold at night.
Mount Jumolhari (7,314m/23,997ft), Jichu Drake (6,989m/22,930ft) and Gangkar Puensum (7,570m/24,837ft) are the mountains seen en-route. Rhododendron forests, alpine yak pastures, trouts farming on the high altitude lakes and spectacular mountain views are the major highlights of this trek.
