The Chomolhari (Jumolhari) trekking is the most popular trail in Bhutan. This trek offers the spectacular views of the Mount Jumolhari (7,314m/23,997ft) from the Base Camp at Jangothang. About 40% trekkers follow the popular Chomolhari trekking route in main seasons. The Chomolhari trek can be possible from April to early June and September to November.

However, the best months considered to trek in this region are April and October only. The Chomolhari trail is full of mud and it can be miserable in the rain. The high pass is closed by snow from late November until April. The trek needs some good equipment as it is very cold at night above Jangothang.

The Trek starts from Drugyl Dzong in Paro and ends finally at Dodena in Thimphu. At first, you will take an acclimatization walk to the Tiger’s Nest Monastery in Paro and then start the trek from the historic Drugyal Dzong. Neylela Pass (4,700m/15,420ft) and Yelela Pass at (4,820m/15,814ft) are the two major high passes on this trek.

About 18 kilometer distance is covered on this trek. The stunning view of Mount Jumolhari (7,314m/23,997ft), Jichu Drake (6,989m/22,930ft) and Tsherimgang (6,789m/22,274ft) add additional attraction on this trip. Rich vegetation, yak herders and grazing land make this trail more scenic and memorable.

<p>On arrival at the Paro Airport, you will be received and taken to your hotel. Sightseeing: the National Museum, Paro Rinpong Dzong and the local market. Overnight at hotel.</p>

<p>Drive up to the end of the road at Drugyel Dzong where the trek begins. The trail follows the river gently uphill through narrowing valley and agricultural fields of the Tsento Village. Overnight at camp near the army outpost.</p>

<p>The trail winds continue uphill following the Paro River until the valley narrows and leads to the slopes. Then it descends down into another valley. Overnight at camp in the meadow.</p>

<p>The trek is along a gradual uphill trail which passes an army outpost. Pack lunch on the way. After lunch you will be passing through the bases of many snow peaked slopes. Overnight at camp at the base of Mt. Jhumolhari.</p>

<p>In the evening a small farewell dinner party will be organized. Overnight at a hotel in Paro.</p>
